Based in Central Queensland, the annual Capricorn Film Festival is the regions premiere film arts destination event and regarded as one of the states leading film exhibition festivals.
DIRECTORS WELCOME
The 2025 Capricorn Film Festival is going to be the biggest film event of the year in Central Queensland.
This Festival is a unique cultural platform where latest achievements in cinema are viewed, discussed and debated for both their narrative and technical merits by audiences of cinema lovers.
This upcoming year we are screening a selection of feature films, short films and documentaries from around around the world alongside multiple other art presentations and community interactive experiences for youth and tourists.
It takes a community to make a event, and an even larger community to sustain and support the independent spirit we keep alive at #capfilmfest.

FESTIVAL EVENTS
OPENING NIGHT PREMIERE
Festivities begin with our opening night screening followed by supper and networking. On our final night after the short film festival, all are welcome for our Closing night drinks.
FEATURES & DOCUMENTARIES
We find independent local and international gems to premiere at the event to the community of Yeppoon. Event to include Queensland feature film and documentary premieres.
SHORT FILM COMPETITION
Three competitive categories judged by a panel of industry experts celebrating Queensland and
international filmmakers. CQ filmmakers compete in two regional filmmaker categories.
CINEMA MEMORIES
Capricornia Silver Band will take you back to your favourite movie scores with a tribute to the history of cinema.
MASTERCLASSES
Teachers, filmmakers and actors from around Australia present educational
opportunities.
PRESENTATIONS
The festival extends its arts reach and intern-connective with important film discussions and presentations.
CAPS PLAY
CAPS Play screens feature length cinema including features and documentaries available online throughout the festival dates.
CAPS EXPERIMENTAL
CAPS EXperimental screens short films from Australian and international artists week long at the Fig Tree Art Gallery.
NETWORKING
Local and regional filmmakers meet and mingle and industry professionals at our networking night.
