The CAPS Short Film Tour will hit the beautiful Quay Street precinct on Saturday, 20 January where the best of this year’s Capricorn Film Festival will screen outdoor for the first time in Rockhampton. For the first time CAPS Short Film Festival will travel across Central Queensland, bringing the best of last year’s short film submissions to those regions in a fun-filled, unique and jam packed community event for the whole family. And best of all, it’s free.

Gladstone's own Clifton Schulke has beat four finalists to win the CAPS Open category at the Capricorn Film Festival today. Though Mr Schulke recently told The Observer he hadn't entered the competition to win, the first place spot no doubt serves as validation to him and the time, effort and commitment he dedicates to his craft.

AS THE Capricorn Film Festival edges closer, Gladstone's last finalist nominee, Joe Perchard has lauded the success of his film, Cringey Ginge and Mr Biggs, as a huge team effort. Following the story of two out-of-favour police detectives, Joe said the movie was best described as a comedic murder mystery.

At age 17, Gladstone filmmaker Michael Hudson is making a name for himself as a finalist in the CAPS junior category of the Capricorn Film Festival. The former Toolooa State High School student, who graduated only weeks ago, has been nominated for his short film The Tourist, an idea he said came from a dream.

The Gladstone school boy who was bullied for being "a poofter" in the 1970s returns this weekend as one of Australia's leading film and television agents. His career, one any aspiring performer would die for, includes dancing for Prince Charles and Princess Diana and six years on the Moulin Rouge in Paris.

Seasoned Gladstone filmmaker Clifton Schulke is being recognised for his short film The Arrow as a Capricorn Film Festival finalist nominee in the Open category. Mr Schulke said he's proud to be part of an event that showcases the region's top talent. "Believe it or not there are a lot of filmmakers in this region,” Mr Schulke said.

Three St Luke's Anglican School students have used their filmmaking skills to showcase how passionate they are about saving the Great Barrier Reef. Indi Bland, Sienna Mergard and Anneleise Taylor's film We Love The Great Barrier Reef is so thought-provoking it has even made its way to the finals of the Capricorn Film Festival.
